Pga Junior League
At Persimmon Country Club, we believe that juniors collaborating to learn the game of golf is one of the most effective ways to cultivate a robust community of golfers and lifelong enthusiasts of the sport. We are thrilled to introduce our PGA Junior League, which offers a supportive environment and framework for our juniors to flourish together.
What is PGA Junior league?
The PGA Junior League offers junior golfers across America the chance to engage in fun, competitive play within organized leagues. At Persimmon C.C., teams will face off against neighboring golf clubs, with matches hosted at each facility. Players are grouped into two age categories: 13 and under, and 14-17, promoting a team-focused and enjoyable environment.
Each match features two players from each team participating in a scramble format, vying for flags. Flags are awarded every three holes to the team that secures the most wins. In the case of ties, both teams receive half a flag each. The team that gathers the most flags by season's end will be crowned the champion.
Coaches will select an all-star team at the season's conclusion, highlighting standout players from the league. This elite team will then compete in an elimination format for a shot at qualifying for nationals, alongside one nominated coach. While participation in the all-star experience is optional, it offers a unique opportunity for selected players.
Practice schedules may differ among teams, but at Persimmon C.C., we plan to hold weekly practice sessions on Tuesday late afternoons for 1.5 hours, beginning in mid-May and continuing through late July. Matches will typically take place on Sunday evenings, both at Persimmon C.C. and at various participating clubs, ensuring an exciting season filled with camaraderie and competitive spirit.
